Beloftebos Cottages are situated on Paardenberg farm next to Salmonsdam Nature Reserve. The cottages are scattered along a farm road – each having a unique scenic setting and between 500m and 2km from Beloftebos Wedding Venue.
Melk en Heuning (sleeps 6) is surrounded by numerous fruit trees planted by various previous inhabitants. It is separated by a poplar lane along the creek with a path linking the two cottages,
Granaat (sleeps 8-10) is situated on a hill, overlooking the valley.
Groenvy (sleeps 8-10) is the biggest one of the lot with four separate bedrooms and a spacious living area and big lawn flowing off the stoep.
Light cottage (sleeps 8-10) is reached via a path winding through an oak grove up a hill and past a dam. Powered only by gas and solar, a rustic feel is created without sacrificing convenience.
Light, Melk en Heuning and Granaat cottages all have two bedrooms with a loft. All the cottage have fireplaces, a stoep, a place to braai (with grids and wood that can be bought), pure cotton linen and towels as well a view and tranquility that will make you come back time and time again!
From R1 200 per cottage per night (minimum 4 people)
Exchange vows under the age-old oak trees in Beloftebos. This romantic and dreamy venue is the ideal setting for your wedding ceremony as well as your reception. The age-old oaks form a grove which is situated just beyond the farmhouse, on the banks of the Paardenberg River. The leaves of the huge oaks form a natural green roof, dense enough for the legal signing of the register! We provide antique church benches and covered straw bales as seats, as well as a carpet that leads to the oak stump pulpit, which rounds off the picture. This ‘green chapel’ was voted one of the Top Five Most Outrageous Chapels in South Africa by Wedding Collection Magazine in 2008. Beloftebos provides a beige bedouin tent (18x25m), complete with fairy lights all around the edges and well-positioned spot lights. The cost of the tent varies according to the number of guests but always beats the price of other rental companies! See gallery for photographs of tent and low lounge.
Natural, organic, home-made, home-grown, farm-style…
At Beloftebos we use what we’ve got and prepare it in the best way we know. Our ingredients are seasonal, natural, home-grown and local. And what we can’t grow and nuture on our farm, we source from other local food heroes in our area.
Take all of this and add chef Corneli de Villiers and her well-seasoned kitchen team, Katy Franse’s roosterkoek and home-made gingerbeer as well as our new wood-fired bread oven and the result is the most hearty, yet sophisticated country cuisine.
Mountain biking routes are available at Beloftebos to suit those of varying technical abilities. Enjoy a 5km Family fun Ride through the Fynbos, or a more demanding Blue, Green and Red Route. A challenging Black Route is still under construction.
